THE GOOD SHEPHERD



*The good shepherd*

The light upon His face drives darkness away
The warmth of His love melts the stoniest heart
His embrace drives away loneliness
His gentle voice assures even in fiercest storm

His presence fills a heart with joy
Bringing liberty to bounded,
At His arising the enemy of the soul flees.

*The good shepherd*

He went down seven steps downward
Breaking the gates of brass
Cutting bass of iron asunder

He went up to the highest height where there is no cloud
Paving for every soul to find a resting place
To experience the joy of heaven even in a crooked present world

*The good shepherd*

He gives His spirit
As a foretaste of the power of the world to come

He gave it up
So that He may gives us all
The good shepherd
Who lays down his life for His sheep.
