Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is one of the most respected ministers in Nigeria.

This means that a lot of people probably forget that he is a human being since they only see him as a Man of God.

Still, this does not change the fact that he is still one of us. Here is how we know this to be true.

He has the usual rags to riches story.

Many Nigerians can relate with the grass to grace story because they have it. Pastor Adeboye is no different. He was born into a financially-challenged family in Ifewara, Osun State. At some point in his life, he was poor that he did not even have shoes. Eventually, he became a mathematics lecturer at the University of Lagos. Later on, he answered God’s call and is now the leader of one of the biggest churches in the entire country.

He is no stranger to challenges.

It is easy to look at Pastor Adeboye’s status and assume that he has never faced any problems. You would be wrong to think that according to an autobiography on the Daddy G.O’s life by Bisi Daniels. The 350-page book titled, “Stories of Pastor E. A. Adeboye,” talks about some of Pastor Adeboye’s challenges which include fruit of the womb, temptation, unforgiveness, and so on, This Day reports.

He is a big romantic.

Looking at Pastor Adeboye, one would never think that he is romantic but the reality is that he is actually lovey-dovey. One of the first times people got to see this side was on his wife’s 67th birthday on July 13, 2015. That day, he celebrated Mrs Foluke Adeboye by sharing his pet names for her on social media. According to Vanguard, the RCCG G.O lost weight for his wife and is never too far from his wife during her birthday month. Reportedly, this was one of the things that he promised her when they got married.

Recently, the power couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. This was another opportunity for this romantic side to come out. Nigerian Tribune reports that Pastor Adeboye announced his willingness to kill for his wife while delivering his message on ‘Activating Your Destiny.’

In his words, “You can slap me; you can lie against me, you can criticise me, it doesn’t bother me, but touch my wife, I’ll kill you! I want the world to hear. They’ll say if I killed they’ll arrest me, jail me, that is if I killed with cutlass or gun. If you tamper with my wife, I will talk to my Daddy and you’ll sleep and will not wake.”

He also said that he is still very in love with his wife while offering marriage advice. He said: “Marry for love. It’ll endure. I’ve been married for 50 years and still on honeymoon. I was the poorest among those lurking around the girl I married.

“One was a lawyer who had a car; I had nothing. But I told the girl that if you marry me, whatever I am, wherever I ever become will be yours.”
